Cook with Budgett brings you this winter special cum simply best yet tasty recipes drink called as Turmeric Latte or Haldi doodh is all the rage now and very close to me as well as my mom used to make me whenever I don't feel good or feeling cold especially, the warmth of our mom I tried to bring in this drink as well, hope you all will love it 

Turmeric has a lot of medicinal properties combined with its ability to heal and warm the body.  In Indian culture especially "haldi doodh with honey" has a place everywhere from medicine to religion. If we get enough of "Haldi ke fayde" then, the plant is pretty enough to be blended in with the ornamental plants in the front yard.

A word to share –  I have seen this drink to be made for 1-2 tbsp of turmeric powder per cup of milk. To me, it feels like an over-usage.  Turmeric is considered very potent and of high potential,  "haldi doodh peene ke fayde" is there no doubt, but taking large amounts on a day-to-day basis may cause unwanted side effects as it's used to say excess of everything is bad.  

Fun Fact -  Indians use turmeric every day, you ask?  Yes, it is true that turmeric is used in everyday Indian cooking, but the amounts used will be much less than 1 tbsp per person.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cup Milk
  • Quarter Tsp Turmeric
  • 1/4 Tsp Ginger Powder
  • 1/8 Tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1/8 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1-2 Pinch Powdered Cloves
  • 1-2 Pinch Black Pepper Powder
  • Honey - As per taste
  • 1-2 Tbsp Crushed pistachios/ Almonds(Optional)


Haldi Doodh with Honey Is All Yours Now - Simply Best and Tasty

 

Warm the milk well and then pour turmeric powder into the milk and stir well. Cover and let rest for a few minutes. The "haldi" seeps into the milk and will turn the milk into golden yellow in color.

Pour enough honey into the glass. Strain the milk if using whole spices. Pour the honey over golden milk and stir it well. If you feel the craving for almonds then, garnish with the crushed pistachios or almonds and enjoy your turmeric and honey in warm skimmed milk!
